Job Description
This Physical Therapist position is a school-based pediatric role, not an outpatient or hospital role. Therefore, candidates must have experience working with children and/or in educational settings.
Mploylab is recruiting a Licensed Physical Therapist for a school-based position in New York City. You will help students with autism and developmental disabilities build mobility, independence, and participation in everyday learning activities.
This role is ideal for a Physical Therapist with school-based, pediatric, or early intervention experience who is passionate about helping students build functional mobility, independence, and participation in daily school activities.
You will coordinate therapy with educators, related-service providers, and families so that students can practice functional skills throughout their school day.
What You’ll Do
- Provide school-based physical therapy services aligned with students’ IEP goals
- Conduct evaluations and develop treatment plans focused on motor development, mobility, and functional independence
- Deliver therapy across settings including classrooms, therapy rooms, playgrounds, and community environments
- Support students with positioning, transfers, mobility, and adaptive equipment
- Collaborate daily with teachers, OT/SLP providers, and support staff
- Guide staff on safe handling, positioning, and mobility strategies
- Track progress and maintain IEP-compliant documentation
- Contribute to standing programs, walking programs, and functional mobility plans
Required Qualifications
- Active New York State Physical Therapist license (required)
- Experience working with children in a school, pediatric, or early intervention setting
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to manage a caseload within a structured school environment
Strongly Preferred
- Experience with IEPs, CPSE/CSE processes, or school-based services
- Experience working with autism, developmental disabilities, or neurological conditions
- Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT)
- Training or experience in pediatric rehabilitation or NDT
