Job Description
Mploylab is recruiting a New York State-Certified Special Education Teacher for a school-based position in New York City. This role supports students who require individualized instruction and substantial learning support.
In addition, instruction emphasizes functional academics, communication, and life skills. As a result, you will adapt lessons to individual IEP goals and help older learners develop foundational skills at their own academic and developmental levels.
This role is ideal for educators who are flexible, patient, and experienced with diverse learners.
Responsibilities
- Deliver differentiated instruction aligned to student IEPs
- Focus on functional academics and adaptive skills
- Collaborate with instructional coaches and special education leadership
- Track progress and maintain required documentation
- Work closely with related service providers and classroom staff
Requirements
- NY State Special Education Certification (required)
(Birth–2, 1–6, or 7–12 accepted)
- Ability to deliver foundational instruction to older learners with varied developmental needs
- Experience with students with disabilities preferred
- Strong collaboration and classroom management skills

About This Special Education Teacher Role
As a Special Education Teacher, you will plan clear, accessible lessons that reflect each student’s IEP and present level of performance. Daily instruction may include small-group teaching, progress monitoring, behavior support, and collaboration with therapists and classroom staff. Because students learn in different ways, you will adjust pacing, materials, and communication strategies throughout the school day.
You will also document student growth, share observations with the educational team, and help families and colleagues understand next steps. For example, you may break complex skills into manageable routines, use visual supports, or connect academic instruction to practical life skills.
